Description:

Oliver was born in Bad Salzungen in 1990. After his A-Level in 2008 he started studying chemistry at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena. During a student assistant job at the Schacher Group he became interested in the chemistry of polymers and during his diploma thesis he focused on the preparation of core-shell hybrid materials. Afterwards, he started hier PhD Thesis in Close collaboration with EControl Glas GmbH on hyperbranched polymers. In his free time he likes to go sailing and meet friends.

Synthesis of Core-Shell hybrid materials

The aim of this work is creating new inorganic/organic hybrid materials with an inorganic core (e.g. SiO2, P2O5, B2O3 …) and an "organic" polymer shell of, e.g., poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO). This work is carried out in close collaboration with the Otto-Schott-Institute in Jena (Prof. Delia Brauer). The synthesis of the core-shell hybrid particles will be carried out using step-wise Stöber protocols.

In this project, hyperbranched polyacrylates are synthesized using the Strathclyde method.
