Synthesis of Core-Shell hybrid materials


The aim of this work is creating new inorganic/organic hybrid materials with an inorganic core (e.g. SiO2, P2O5, B2O3 …) and an "organic" polymer shell of, e.g., poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO). This work is carried out in close collaboration with the Otto-Schott-Institute in Jena (Prof. Delia Brauer). The synthesis of the core-shell hybrid particles will be carried out using step-wise Stöber protocols.

In this project, hyperbranched polyacrylates are synthesized using the Strathclyde method.
